Team Northern Ireland Charter

1. What is Age of Sigmar Northern Ireland (AOSNI)?

Age of Sigmar Northern Ireland is the group of players who represent Northern Ireland at AoS in the Home Nations Event (6N) and the AoS Worlds (Worlds).

2. Who can join AOSNI?

To represent AOSNI, a player must meet at least one of the following conditions:

  • They, or a parent/grandparent, must have been born in Northern Ireland.
  • They must have resided in Northern Ireland for a continuous period of at least two years.
  • They must have previously represented AOSNI as a foreign mercenary and have not since represented another country.

3. Who organises AOSNI?

3(i). Committee

AOSNI is organised by a committee consisting of:

  • Captain
  • Past Captains (ones willing to be involved)
  • Player Liaison

The committee members will be responsible for tracking ranking results over the ranked season. All results from away events that a player would like recorded for their ranked score should be reported to one of the members of the committee to allow it and their ranking score for the event to be tracked.

3(ii). Elections
Captain
  • The captain post is renewed annually by election each year immediately after AOS Worlds, all AOSNI members from previous years are eligible to stand and run for the role.
  • Voting for the role of captain is eligible to anybody who has played minimum one event in the previous year and fits within the criteria to play on the team.
    • Players who are actively attempting to qualify or play on other teams are not eligible to vote.
    • The captain must declare if they intend on being a playing or non-playing captain.
    • If intent is to play, the role of “team coach” may be made available to anyone who was eligible in the rankings from the previous year.
Vice Captain
  • Selected from the members that have qualified for the team.
  • Voting for the role is handled by the other members of the team and not open to the rest of the community as with the captain vote.
Team Coach

If the captain has declared intent to play at the events. Additional help/support may be required in regard to pairings and organising the team.

  • The vote for team Coach will be internal to players who have already qualified for the team, as with the Vice Captain vote.
  • Team Coach can be any player who has played in a minimum of one event within the last ranked season.

4. How are the teams selected?

4.1. AoS 6 Nations Team Selection

Places are decided by the AOSNI rankings:

  1. Player who finished highest in the AOSNI Rankings
  2. Player who finished 2nd highest in the AOSNI Rankings
  3. Player who finished 3rd highest in the AOSNI Rankings
  4. Player who finished 4th highest in the AOSNI Rankings
  5. Player who finished 5th highest in the AOSNI Rankings
  6. Player who finished 6th highest in the AOSNI Rankings
  7. Playing Captain or First Wildcard picked by the Committee
  8. Second Wildcard picked by the Committee

The rankings cut off date for 6 Nations is the end of June.

If the Captain finishes inside the top 6 in the AOSNI Rankings then a wildcard pick may be chosen. It is up to the Captain who this person is as long as they fall within the criteria listed above to be eligible to play on the team.

If the Captain finishes outside the top 6 they can use the wildcard pick to give themselves a position on the team.

If any player from the top 6 declines their place on the team, an additional Wildcard pick is available for team selection.

In the event that two players are tied for the last position on the team, the following tiebreakers will be used:

  • Extend to an average of top five eligible events.
  • Number of podium results over the season.
  • Captain’s decision or head-to-head play off.
4.2. AoS Worlds Team Selection

Aos Worlds team format:

  • Captain - playing or non playing
  • 8 Players
  • Coach/Assistant - If captain is playing a coach may be brought to the event

Team Selection

  • The first four places on the Worlds team, are the top four players on the AOSNI rankings at the end of December.
  • The AOSNI Captain then has one personal Wildcard to add any eligible player to the team regardless of ranking(they can select themselves).
  • The final three places will be picked by the committee.
  • Players will be selected based on the following factors:
    • Rankings
    • Play style
    • Attitude and demeanor
    • Experience
  • If players wish to be considered for the AOS worlds team they will need to give an application of intent

5. How do the AOSNI Rankings work?

The rankings are based on players’ tournament performances throughout the qualifying seasons (1st Jan - 31st Dec for AOS Worlds and 1st of July - 31st of June for 6 Nations).

  • The players’ top four eligible scores are combined to give a ranking score.
  • A player must attend at least two Northern Ireland events to be eligible.
  • A player dropping from an in progress event can not claim ranking points for their final position in that event.
    • This event will not be counted as one of their home events for reducing home result requirements above.
  • A player is eligible to use one tournament they organised (TO) score towards their ranked results only if they have less than four events.
    • A player's TO score is calculated based on the average score from their other events over the ranked season, scaled against the largest event they TO’d over the year
    • A player cannot choose to remove or not count certain results in an attempt to increase this average after the event has taken place.
      • Prior to an event a player can say they don’t want it included in rankings. This is to allow players to bring a more relaxed or experimental list without potentially negatively affecting their rankings position.
    Event Scoring

A scaled scoring system is used for events based on the following.

    • Any events below a 60 person attendance will scale accordingly and reduce the maximum score available for that event.
    • A three round event will provide a max ranking score of 60 to the winner.
      • For each person below the 60 player cap the maximum score will reduce by 0.3 points.
    • A five round event will provide a max ranking score of 100 to the winner.
      • For each person below the 60 player cap the maximum score will reduce by 0.5 points.
    • Team event scoring will scale based on total players at the event, not number of teams.
      • Example scoring:
        • 80 person event 4 player teams.
        • Winning team all members awarded 1st place (100pts)
        • Second place team scores equivalent to 5th position (95pts)

This scaling matches with the rankings calculator and system in place on BadDice.co.uk so players can easily keep track of their current standings there also.

    Eligible Events

An event will be eligible for rankings scores if:

    • The event is an open one, not an invitational.
    • The event results have been provided to a committee member for recording against the ranked standings.
    • Team events will count towards ranked results.
      • These will be limited to two team events per player from their top four results in a season.
    Ineligible Events

An event will be ineligible for rankings scores if:

    • The event is heavily comped - this does not include rule decisions prior to a battletomes release FAQ.
    • Doubles events will not be counted.
    • Events played with a pitched army size other than “Battlehost (2000)”
    • Narrative events: events using custom/open play battleplans or any other rules changes to the matched play standard.
    • Events where a player has been found colluding shall be null and voided for that individual i.e. no results data entered for them.
    • The Committee deems the event void due to issues

If there are concerns regarding if an event counts a committee member should be contacted

    6. Qualifying Conditions

    • Must not be contending for more than one 6N or AoS Worlds team.
    • For worlds eligibility player must have a previous cap representing Team Northern Ireland at another international event. Such as player/coach of 6 nations team or a previous Worlds position.
    • A player will also be required to have 2 events played in Northern Ireland in the last 12 months prior to each cut off date.
    • A player must be willing to play an army they may not have qualified using if multiple players have access to the army in question.
      • A decision will be made by the Captain and Vice Captain regarding who will play which army at the event(s) based on the requirements of the team.
      • Play style and team needs will be factored into this decision i.e. not solely from rankings position.
    • Positive social behaviour at events.
    • Has no record of tournament collusion at ranked events.
    • Willingness to play events out to the end, will not drop from events without valid reasons.
    • A player will never be expected to purchase a new army to secure their spot on the team, if a different army is required all attempts will be made to allow the player to borrow the army for the event, as well as sufficient time before so they can learn the army and benefit from practise games.

Captain/Vice Captain can call a vote to remove a player from the team if:

    1. Confidence is shaken at their commitment.
    2. They repeatedly display bad sportsmanship or anything that could harm the team.
